Seeking a Summer Theater Camp? CYT is proud to offer camps in the theatrical arts for children ages 6-18 each summer.

CYT Denver is pleased to announce our 2014 Summer Camps! We have a variety of themes available for a wide age range. Our camps include musical theater, creative dramatics, a Broadway revue, scripted plays, and a full-scale musical production. Please see the descriptions, categorized by area, listed below. You will be able to register for these exciting camps as soon as our venues are secured.
The Pied Piper of Hamelin Adapted by Julie and David Payne Lyrics by Julie Payne Music by Martha Yordy for 9-12 year olds (a two week camp)
Hamelin is overrun with rats so Mayor Pinchpenny hires a mysterious stranger to rid the town of the rodents. When the mayor backs out of the deal, citizens such as Dr. Drizzlepate, Miss Trundlebottom, Miss Frag, Mr. Ment, and a small crippled child try to convince him to pay the piper what he is owed. Ultimately, the whole town pays the price and a lesson is learned. Come be a part of this familiar classic tale in an ensemble musical retelling. Students will audition for roles the first day of class (all will be cast), and then rehearse for a performance for friends and family to be performed on the last day of class.
Kritter Kronicles: Dogs and Cats - Creative Dramatics Camp for 6-7 year olds (a one week camp) Cost $195
This camp is a fun exploration of books and stories that center around animals, specifically dogs and cats. Campers will read popular tales such as If You Give a Dog a Donut, Pete the Cat, as well as other student choice selections. Once the story has been read the students are guided in bringing the characters, locations, and environments to life. On the last day of camp parents are invited to watch as these young actors share a song and a few of their creative dramatics experiences.
Rhyme and Rhyme Again - More Poetry of Shel Silverstein & Jack Prelutsky for 7-9 year olds (a one week camp) Cost $195
Shel Silverstein and Jack Prelutsky are the authors of well-loved and familiar children’s poetry. Favorites like Falling Up, If I Were in Charge of the World, I’ve Lost My Hippopotamus, and Me I Am, will be read, memorized, and staged. At the end of the week campers will perform a sampling of poetry and a song for friends and family.
Fabulous Fairytales: In the Palace - Creative Dramatics Camp for 6-7 year olds (a one week camp) Cost $195
This camp is a fabulous exploration of familiar fairytales that take place in a palace. Campers will read popular stories such as Cinderella, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, as well as other student choice selections. Once the story has been read the students are guided in bringing the characters, locations, and environments to life. On the last day of camp, parents are invited to watch as these young actors share a song and a few of their creative dramatics experiences.
Tales Folks Tell - Folk tales from around the world for 7-9 year olds (a one week camp) Cost $195
Every country has stories that are unique to their culture and that have been passed down through the generations. This camp is a chance to read and recreate stories from Japan, England, Germany, and many other countries. At the end of camp, friends and family will be invited to see these stories and a song brought to life onstage! Different stories will be chosen at the various this camp is offered.
